Social Media
Social Media Course for pre-school-, primary school-, general secondary school- and special need school teachers.

The venue of this course is PORTOROZ in SLOVENIA at the coast of the Adriatic sea.
Your trainers are Silva Skoberne, Lucija Kupec and Klaas Fokkinga.
*Preparation*
This course does not require any specific pre-course reading. There will be sent a pre-course questionnaire out to all participants in order for the
trainers on the course to find out about the participants' backgrounds and to assess their needs.Questions will relate to their interest in technology,
their teaching backgrounds if they are teachers, the age group they teach and class numbers, and the language of instruction. Other participants
who are not teachers will be asked about their interest in the course and their expectations of it. We will also include questions about their
familiarity with Technology, inside and outside the classroom or place of work.Participants will be encouraged to bring their own laptops if possible,
their own digital cameras or camcorders, to have some video editing software loaded on their laptops.
*Objectives*
The aim of this course is for participants to learn about and experience hands-on a range of interesting tools & activities involving ICT. Sessions
will be mostly "hands on", which means a lot of practical work and will involve the set-up of various elements on the course, for example, Vlogs,
Prezi, Blogs, etc. Participants will be expected to work collaboratively on projects linked to sessions. The course should help teachers reflect on
their approach to teaching today's students and integrating technology in their teaching. Didactics and ICT-policy are a part of the program. Any
non-teaching participants will be able to develop their ICT Skills for various projects. They will learn how to edit simple videos, how to make
astonishing presentations using their own pictures, audio sample.By the end of this course, all participants will have experienced and worked with a
range of technological tools available online as freeware, or at most, low cost software.
*Methodology*
This course will be taught interactively, with input sessions, workshops, and group project work. Participants are expected to take an active role in
all sessions, and experiencing for themselves the activities covered in the sessions. They will be introduced, during the course, to various
web-based sites and technological tools which they could use after the course. During the course, participants will be able to explore video editing
tools, Blogs, Vlogs, Glogs, use of Graphic tablets for educational purposes, etc, for use after the course.This course is extremely practical and will
involve experiential use of the tools and technology introduced.
*Follow-up*
1. A list of useful websites.
2. A post-course reflection/feedback activity will be emailed to all participants, to encourage continuing professional development and evaluation of
the impact of the course on their own day-to-day teaching.
3. During the course, participants will learn about some social media tools that can be used for various purposes. They will explore possibilities how
to use them in their everyday work with pupils. They will be asked to join a FB page of this course and keep other participants posted about their
experiences, new discoveries.The site will allow networking and contact with the trainers and fellow colleagues, and with participants from other
(previous or post-) courses.
Further tips and links to useful tools (regularly posted on the FB) after the course will allow Continuing Professional Development for a long time
after the end of the course.
Participants from different countries will be encouraged to set up their own EU projects in conjunction with other participants on the courses.
*Day by Day*
DAY 1 (Monday):
AM: Introduction to the course programme.
PM: Introduction to the use of ICT and its importance in education. Use of Social media in Education. Presentation of the commonly used social
media sites.In the evening: Social and cultural program.
DAY 2 (Tuesday):
AM: Seminar: Use of video and its applications in education. Hands on session - Vlog, Youtube, Edutube and other video-connected social media
sites.
PM: Collaborative group work, group discussions and presentations about video applications.
DAY 3 (Wednesday):
AM: Seminar: Use of Graphic tablets for educational purposes. Use of animated tools to make learning more interesting.
PM: Collaborative group work, group discussions and presentations about use of graphic tablets and animation in education.
DAY 4 (Thursday):
AM: Seminar: Use of different programmes to make a simple presentation with pictures and audio. How to make games in a blink of an eye to
raise the motivation in schools. Podcasts.
PM: Visit to a primary / secondary school in the framework of the use of social media.
DAY 5 (Friday):
AM: Seminar: Use of FB and Twitter for posting the information in educational reasons. Making a FB page and Prezi presentation with the materials
that were made during this course.
PM: Collaborative group work, group discussions and presentations. Feedbacks and evaluation of entire in-service training course. Certification
Ceremony.
